Default Batwing or ape

Do not know what to do , I recently bought a 08 Fatboy
and I do not like the original handlebar because I catch to much wind , riding on highway and I am really hanging on to them , this is very tiring after half an hour on highway ( speed + 75 mph )
I'm only 5"5' I have to spread my arms quite wide, and get into trouble wrists. I'm thinking on modify to a 12"mini ape or puting on a batwing to catch no more wind on the chest at higher speed

Apes will cause you to catch more wind due to the riding position.

Drag bars with 8.5 inch pull back buffalo risers.
Very comfy..

Here's a pic of my ol' softail.

I think a few inches narrower already would do a lot ??
and the position of the handle

I'm 5'6" and had a similar problem on a Heritage. The apes kind of made my shoulders hurt. I replaced them with Extreme Reduced Reach Handlebar. They worked perfect for me and are inexpensive. I also replace the riser with a Deluxe riser.

Why not both? Use hippo hands or polar hands and stay warm.

This is the same BW on my last bike, 08 fxdc with 2 inch risers and 12" mini ape's.

I put it on my current bike, 2 inch risers and 14" apes. It's a Memphis Shades batwing. It did fit both bikes just needed to change the mounting plates only.

Hope this helps. Warm and dryer in oregon

Go with a fairing or large windshield if you're looking for more wind protection.

NO windshield I have one on my 07 RK witch is rarely on there
I do not have the same problem on the RK I can easily drive 1 hr at 80mph without the windshield and without having pain in my wrist or arms
