Bryce Harper has been scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to a migraine.

Harper was slated to hit third for Tuesday’s game, but instead the two-time MVP will get Tuesday off while he recuperates. Alec Bohm moves over to first base with Whit Merrifield taking over at third. For now, Harper should be considered day-to-day.
Brandon Williamson

CIN Starting Pitcher #55

Reds sent LHP Brandon Williamson (shoulder) to High-A Dayton to begin a rehab assignment.

Williamson has been out for the entirety of 2024 while dealing with his left shoulder strain. He’s currently on the 60-day injured list, and he can come off that list on May 27. Williamson will likely make a couple of rehab starts before rejoining the Reds around the start of June.
Rowdy Tellez

PIT First Baseman #44

Rowdy Tellez will be out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.

Pirates manager Derek Shelton told 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh that Tellez will take a seat with Connor Joe instead getting the start at first base. Shelton cited the reverse splits against Ross with righties fairing better with lefties, so Tellez gets a break while being available off the bench.
Tyler Zuber

TB Relief Pitcher #61

Rays signed RHP Tyler Zuber to a minor-league contract.

Zuber, 28, was signed from the Long Island Ducks of the Independent League. The right-hander was a member of the Guardians during spring training, but he failed to make the team after a shaky showing in the Cactus League. Zuber provides organizational depth for the remainder of 2024, and he’ll need to be added to the 40-man roster in order to pitch in the majors this season.
Drew Smith

NYM Relief Pitcher #33

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that the Mets will activate Drew Smith (shoulder) off the injured list Wednesday.

Smith is eligible to come off the injured list now, but the Mets will wait at least one more day. The right-hander has been out since April 24 with right shoulder inflammation. Once back, he should help as a bridge to closer Edwin Díaz.
Jackson Rutledge

WAS Starting Pitcher #79

Jackson Rutledge will be the 27th player for the Nationals on Tuesday for their doubleheader against the White Sox.

Rutledge will be available as a bullpen option for Washington for both games. The 6-foot-8 right-hander has registered a 6.33 ERA in seven starts for Triple-A Rochester in 2024 across 27 innings of work.
Jasson Dominguez

NYY Center Fielder #89

Jasson Dominguez (elbow) is beginning his rehab assignment with Low-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Dominguez will begin facing competition as he works his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in September. The 21-year-old will likely need to spend a couple of weeks — at least — playing minor-league games before having a chance to return to the New York lineup near the start of June. Dominguez is extremely talented, but he’s a very risky option for the 2024 season.
J.T. Realmuto

PHI Catcher #10

J.T. Realmuto (knee) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

Realmuto is missing another game while dealing with soreness in his right knee. Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters before the game that Realmuto was able to workout and hit in the cage prior to the game, but it’s not known if he will be able to play Wednesday. The Phillies will have Garrett Stubbs start behind the plate and hit ninth. Realmuto is still considered day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list can’t be ruled out just yet.
Kyle Schwarber

PHI Left Fielder #12

Kyle Schwarber (back) is hitting leadoff and and lined up as the designated hitter for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

The hope was for Schwarber was that he would be able to return to the lineup Monday, but the Phillies held him out for one more day as a precaution; although he did appear as a pinch-hitter. He’ll look to do damage against Jose Butto and the Mets after missing time with his back ailment.

FA Starting Pitcher #37

Cardinals released RHP Josh James.

James, 31, was once among the most intriguing young right-handed pitchers in the sport, but injuries and inconsistent performance when healthy have derailed his career. Prior to his release, he posted a 19.26 ERA over 7 2/3 innings with 15 walks against five strikeouts. He’s now free to find a new team.
