Groundings and collisions within such close proximity to large banks often involves the unpredictable and often misunderstood hydrodynamic effect of vessel interaction with the banks and bottom of the Suez Canal.
We became involved whilst the vessel was listing heavily and taking on water. She had already signed LOF with SCOPIC incorporated and invoked, and she eventually capsized with half the vessel beneath and half the vessel above the waterline.
Tatham Macinnes undertook a challenging case whereby two major container vessels had suffered severe corrosion to various engineering machinery parts, including fuel pumps, plungers and purifier bowls. One of the vessels involved had experienced a blackout and a subsequent collision with a pier.
